A new phishing scheme leveraging the McDonald's name is part of a trend that plays on the economic downturn. With the emergence of new attack techniques and the reinvention of old ones, 2008 has been a year of cybercriminal innovation. The FBI is warning of a vulnerability in an open-source toolkit used to make VoIP calls. Australian organisations are increasingly concerned about the amount of legitimate emails blocked by spam filters, a new survey has found. The FBI has issued a warning to companies about scammers spoofing voice over IP (VoIP) calls by exploiting PBX exchanges.  

 

User names and passwords aren't secure, and momentum continues to build across the industry to solve this problem in a manageable way. The first months of 2008 has seen spam levels rise with the economic situation and Olympics adding fuel to the fire. Smaller than my hand. More intelligent than a mini-computer. A look at two of the signing technologies PayPal plans to use to improve sent email authentication, which would allow ISPs to drop each email that isn't properly verified.
